Teen Driving Log

I decided to update Teen Driving Log instead of starting on a new App. There are a couple things I wanted to take care of and I figured it would be good to get it out of the way before I started on a new project.

I am adding some more categories to both the Driving Locations and the Skills Practiced sections.

I am also adding some headers on the exported CSV backup file.

Jeep Wave App

v1.0 of Jeep Wave has been submitted to Apple. Now the long wait. Hopefully it will be as quick (or quicker) than Teen Driving Log. I figure it will be about a week before Apple approves it.

So, on to the next App. I am not sure what it will be since I have about 4 Apps that I have bits and pieces for. As soon as I get the App moving along, I will post something here about what it is.

In the meantime, go over to the Jeep Wave App page and check out the little photo contest we are having.

Jeep Wave App

Well, time is almost here for the release of our 2nd App. It is called Jeep Wave. You can get more information from the Jeep Wave App web page. Basically, it allows you to rank your Jeep according to some “rules”. Then you can see if you are supposed to wave first to other Jeep drivers, or if they are supposed to wave first to you.

Sedona

I just got back from a wonderful trip to Sedona, AZ. It was sort of a work/play trip. We filmed a little video (hopefully it will be edited soon) for our newest App – Jeep Wave, but we also had some fun along the way.

We rented a Jeep from Barlow Jeep Rentals in Sedona. It was fantastic. If you are ever in Sedona, you have to rent a Jeep for a day or two and go explore some of the great offroad (well, not really offroad) trails they have there.

More than one way to do that

I am starting to learn that there is always more than one way to code an App.

I am working on our newest App and ran into some problems the just didn’t make sense. I could not get the standard Apple tab bar template to work exactly the way I wanted to, so I searched the internet. I found a website that explained how to do it a little different way – which didn’t work out for me. I ended up searching some more and found a good solution. It is from the Beginning iPhone 3 Development book. Each one worked in a similar way, but there were tiny differences that worked better or worse in my situation. In the end, I think I ended up using the method that will be easiest for me to understand and easiest to add on to later.

Teen Driving Log update (v1.0.1)

Just wanted everyone to know that there is an update to Teen Driving Log. It should be in the App Store soon, so keep an eye out.

This update covers the following:

  • fixes a timezone error with the date picker
  • updated wording in the settings menu
  • improves night hours vs total hours calculation
  • simplifies the completion status to reflect a Yes or No status instead of a % to more accurately reflect the status

Thanks to all who have purchased Teen Driving Log.
